Phonetic Phantasy

Gab is so into phonics of late, she can't not say a word without first enunciating the beginning letter.

Ha-ha-ha-Ham. That begins with the letter H.
Fi-fi-fi-Fish. That begins with the letter F.
Ma-ma-ma-Mouse. That begins with the letter M.
Ca-ca-ca-Carrot. That begins with the letter C.
O-o-o-Oblong. That begins with the letter O.
Ba-ba-ba-Blankie. That begins with the letter B.
S-s-s-Snake. That begins with the letter S.

And she incorporates it into everyday life too. Say, you tell her: 'Gab, please be done choosing what you want from the fridge then close the door.'

Pa-pa-pa-Please. That begins with the letter P.
Da-da-da-Door. That begins with the letter D.

Si-si-si-Citizen. That begins with the letter S.

So okay we can forgive her on that one. It's a pretty tricky word.

Swa-swa-swa-Swallow. That begins with the letter W.

Uhmm... Dare we correct her and risk ruining the general mood of light-hearted happiness?

Is-is-is-Wisdom. That starts with the letter S.

Ooookay, that's enough for today. Off to school you go!

Scha-scha-scha-School. That begins with...

In the Pursuit of Knowledge

I was relieved that I did not have to force Gab to wake up for school that particular morning. And I did not need to cajole, threaten or beg for her to take breakfast either. She got up on her own, demanded for a bottle of milk, downed it in a few seconds then asked if she could have some burger patties. Who was I to complain? So I asked her to sit down at the kitchen table while I happily cooked breakfast.

I saw her rest her head on her arms on top of the table, but I didn't catch her fall asleep...

Poor kid. Her first month at preschool and already she appears to be sleep-deprived. I wonder what it's going to be like for her in graduate school...
